A lot of people ask, “Is a Two person tent adequately large for car camping?”. That’s an excellent question and can be answered with a little research. Before I get into the details of car camping and tents, let’s start with a quick review of tent sizes!

As avid campers, my wife and I have tried out a lot of different tents. We’ve had the privilege of camping in the backcountry all over the west, from the sandy beaches of Northern California to the high mountain lakes of Colorado.

  • 8 person tent for 5 persons camping

And so on… This will help provide enough room for each person to keep their gears as well!

In the end, there are no hard and fast rules for whether or not a 2-person tent is large enough for car camping. The correct answer will depend on the size of your tent and the amount of gear that you have with you.

In other words, for larger tents with more gear, smaller tents can (and should) be used as it makes for a more comfortable experience. And if you are able to spend a bit more and go with a bigger tent, then, by all means, do so. With any luck, the above information will help.
